# Which Protocol to Choose?

It really depends on where you are located and on what you need.

Let's go through the main pros and cons of each protocol we offer.

## At a Glance...

Recommendation: Xray, with the new VLESS+XTLS protocol, is the recommended choice for web-browsing and streaming. If you don't have access to the new protocol (mainly on intel Mac OS), the old V2ray is the recommended option. We currently do not recommend Shadowsocks as it is based on an earlier version of the protocol. Choose Eclipse for security and video conferencing, and SmartDNS for Netflix unblocking on TVs and consoles (SmartDNS only works with US Netflix).

**GLOSSARY**

*Stability:* A measurement of the frequency of disconnections and speed fluctuations, as well as the  likelihood of encountering various issues.

*Gaming:* A measurement of how the protocol performs when gaming. Gaming usually requires good UDP support, stable apps, and low ping (less RTTs).&#x20;

## Trojan

Trojan started development in 2017. It attempts to imitate a normal HTTPS connection as closely as possible, with as little overhead as possible. Security is achieved using TLS as the outer layer.&#x20;

It is fast, and effectively bypasses blocking by the Great Firewall, as well as firewalls in other countries such as Iran, Indonesia, and Russia. It supports both UDP and TCP. Unlike Xray, most apps support trojan, including Clash.

Because of the speed, stability, and app compatibility of Trojan, we have migrated most of our servers to this protocol.&#x20;

#### Use Trojan if:

* You need to watch Netflix or other streaming channels
* You need to connect to a wide variety of countries&#x20;
* You need to connect to a specific country that is only on Xray/v2ray
* You want fast downloads and HD YouTube streaming
* Do extensive web-browsing, emails, etc.
* You want to run a UDP-based application
* You want to play online games&#x20;

**Don't use Trojan if:**

* You need OpenVPN for security
* You are on a system that doesn't support it yet or has poor support for it

## Xray

Xray is a fork of the v2ray protocol by a coder under the name of *rprx* on github. The fork was created on November 9, 2020, and has quickly gained popularity over these past year, passing 5,500 stars on it's github repository (as of August 2021).&#x20;

The fork fixes several important issues with the original v2ray code, including enabling full UDP gaming support on the original VMESS protocol, optimization of the code (about 30% faster than the original v2ray code), and most importantly, the introduction of several new technologies, including the one we are currently using, XTLS.

The only downside is that only a minority of apps have updated their software to support Xray, so you may need to update or switch to a different app to take advantage of this new technology. But it's worth it.

Xray is fully compatible with v2ray.

Update: Xray currently has some compatibility issues with Whatsapp calls. If you need Whatsapp call support, please use the "WhatsApp" server.

#### Use Xray if:

* You need to connect to a specific country that is only on Xray/v2ray
* You want fast downloads and HD YouTube streaming
* Do extensive web-browsing, emails, etc.
* You want to run a UDP-based application
* You want to play online games&#x20;

**Don't use Xray if:**

* You need OpenVPN for greater security
* You are on a system that doesn't support it yet or has poor support for it

## v2ray

V2ray was created on September 5, 2015 as an alternative to Shadowsocks and has slowly gained popularity with users in China (the github repo now has more stars than Shadowsocks). It is more flexible than Shadowsocks, supports multiple protocols out of the box, and can effectively escape blocking by the Great Firewall.&#x20;

V2ray is optimized for TCP only. It only has basic UDP support. v2ray also needs 1 RTT (round-trip time) more than Shadowsocks for it's handshake. You can eliminate this additional RTT by enabling mux support in your apps (however, keep in mind that enabling mux may bring instability in the network and reduce your streaming speed).

IMPORTANT UPDATE: We have now migrated our servers to Xray. It is much faster and more stable than v2ray. If at all possible, we HIGHLY recommend moving to Xray (unless your system does not support it at this time).

Xray is fully compatible with all v2ray setups.

#### Use v2ray if:

* **YOU DO NOT, OR CANNOT RUN TROJAN**
* You need to watch Netflix or other streaming channels
* You need to connect to a wide variety of countries&#x20;
* You need to connect to a specific country that is only on v2ray
* You want fast downloads and HD YouTube streaming
* Do moderate web-browsing, emails, etc.

**Don't use v2ray if:**

* You need to play online games
* You want to run a UDP-based application
* You need OpenVPN for greater security

## Shadowsocks

Shadowsocks is one of the first protocols developped in China specifically to bypass the GFW. Development started on April 20, 2012. It's original developper was forced to stop his/her work on the project due to outside pressure. Work on the protocol continues on till this day via various forks on the original project.

Shadowsocks was the first protocol we implemented, before we had to switch to v2ray and Eclipse after it was getting aggressively blocked.&#x20;

Unlike v2ray, Shadowsocks is leaner and is easy on RAM and the CPU, making it more stable under load. It has also optimized it's UDP packet transmission mechanism, making it a good option for gaming.

Because Shadowsocks is heavily censored, we need to use various mechanisms to hide the connection. Therefore, only a subset of locations are available for Shadowsocks.

#### Use Shadowsocks if:

* You need a simple, click-and-forget connection
* You do extensive web-browsing, email, streaming, etc.
* You want to play online games (use Netch on Windows)
* You need to do VoIP or video conferencing

**Don't use Shadowsocks if:**

* You want to watch Netflix or unblock streaming content (use v2ray)
* You need a specific country not supported by Shadowsocks
* You are running Linux

## Eclipse (OpenVPN)

Eclipse is our own version of OpenVPN, modified to work in China. It has never been blocked, nor do we see it getting blocked in the near future. It runs on the official OpenVPN apps, and support all the functions of OpenVPN.

It uses 256-bit encryption, supports TCP, UDP, and ICMP protocols, and is thoroughly audited by industry experts to guarantee strong security.

The main downside of Eclipse is that it is slow. Speeds are usually between 3-12Mbps depending on the time of day and server choice (though you may get speeds of up to 25Mbps on some networks).

#### Use Eclipse if:

* You want an industry-standard VPN solution
* You need military-grade security&#x20;
* You are doing light browsing, emails, streaming, etc (Eclipse can stream 720p HD)
* You need support for ICMP or other non-standard protocols
* You need Linux support

**Don't use Eclipse if:**

* You want a fast connection

## SmartDNS

SmartDNS is a DNS server that unblocks Netflix and other streaming channels for you. You need to register your IP for authentication and add the DNS servers into your WiFi/ethernet settings and your good to go!

NOTE: It does NOT encrypt your connection. It does NOT bypass DNS poisoning by ISPs. It does NOT bypass China's firewall. It does NOT unblock Youtube.

It only bypasses geolocation blocking by Netflix and other such streaming channels.

#### Use SmartDNS if:

* You want to watch Netflix or a similar channel on a device that does not support v2ray (smart TV, console, etc)
* You want to only unblock Netflix, but don't need a VPN to bypass your local internet restrictions (i.e. you don't live in China)

**Don't use SmartDNS if:**

* You need to bypass your ISP/School/Country's firewall
* Your ISP is doing DNS poisoning/hyjacking on the domains you want to unblock
* You want a VPN
* You have v2ray/Shadowsocks/Eclipse running at the same time (they will conflict with each other)

## Routers

Recommendation: OpenWRT with Passwall installed. You can usually get one on taobao, but make sure you ask the seller if Passwall is already installed or not. Otherwise, Merlin-Koolshare routers can be installed later, but they do not support Xray, so we'd recommend trying to get Passwall on OpenWRT if at all possible.

Routers are NOT officially supported. Support provided on a best-effort basis.

If you get a OpenWRT router, it is **HIGHLY, HIGHLY** recommended to get it pre-installed. Installing it yourself is very complicated, if not impossible. We do not provide guides or support on how to install OpenWRT due to the complexity.

本应用是Windows系统推荐使用的应用。 但是，如果您想要一个更简单的界面，可以考虑使用v2rayN。两者都同样有效。 Clash支持分流，而v2rayN则通过同一服务器发送所有流量。分流设置更复杂，如果设置不正确可能会导致问题。

## STEP 2: Import your config

### Copy the API

1. Login to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) dashboard
2. Select "Clash Verge" in the dropdown for Windows
3. Click "Copy API"

* **Simple API**: One proxy group, easy to set up, suitable for basic use. ***Recommended for new users.***
* **Split-tunneling API**: Supports multiple proxy groups and service-based routing for advanced control.
* **Subconverter API**: A technical tool for advanced users to convert and customize subscription configs across different formats (Clash, Surge, etc.). \[Only if you know what it is]

### Paste the API&#x20;

1. Open Clash by double-clicking on the app icon in the tray on the bottom right corner of your screen (purple cat icon)
2. Go to "Profiles" (left-hand menu)&#x20;
3. Paste the API in the "Profile URL" box and click "IMPORT"

## STEP 3: Select a server and connect

### What are modes?

Rule - **Recommended.** Choose this option if you are in China. Websites go to different servers based on pre-configured rule sets.&#x20;

Global - All websites go through one Wannaflix server. Can cause Chinese sites to malfunction. Only choose this option if you are **NOT** in China.&#x20;

Direct - **Don't enable**. (Disables the VPN).

NOTE: If you are using the SIMPLE API, Rule mode does split tunneling for Chinese and foreign sites automatically (Chinese sites connect directly, not through the VPN, and overseas sites go through the VPN).

### Configure split tunneling (Optional)

1. Click the **“Proxies”** tab in the left sidebar
2. Under **Proxy Groups** :
   * You'll see a list of different groups(like `Wannaflix`,  `🍎 Apple`, or `📺 Netflix`)
3. Click on the **group** name (e.g., `📺 Netflix`)
4. Select the desired server from the list (e.g., 🇯🇵 Japan, 🇸🇬 Singapore, etc.)
5. &#x20;That service will now go through your selected server.&#x20;

### How to disconnect

Toggle the "System Proxy" switch again

### If you want to play games with Clash or have all apps go through Clash, you need to use TUN Mode instead of System Proxy

1. Go to the "Home" tab
2. Under "Network Settings", disable "System Proxy"
3. Select "TUN Mode", and toggle on

### Windows Store apps

3. If there's a popup click "YES"
4. Select all the apps you want to force through the VPN
5. Click "Save Changes"

### Enable Start with Windows

If you want Clash to automatically start when you boot your computer, you need to enable this option.

1. Go to the "Settings" tab
2. Toggle the "Auto Launch" switch

### Kill all connections when changing server

By default, old connections will not be redirected to the new server but will continue going to the old server until they timeout.

This creates problems when you're switching servers to watch Netflix or if you need a specific IP address as the websites you've just visited will still be going through the old server.

To kill all connections (and therefore forcibly reconnect via the new server), do this:

1. Go to "Connections" tab
2. Click "CLOSE ALL"

### How can I update the server list?

Go to profiles, and click on the refresh icon next to the profile you want to update.

### How can I play games with Clash for Windows?

You need to use Tun Mode (see above), and connect to a server that supports UDP.

### Spotify/OneDrive/Other app doesn't work

Windows Store apps don't go through Clash by default. You need to force them to go through by using the UWP Loopback Helper (see above).

If it still doesn't work, try to run it in Tun Mode (see above).

### Netflix/other website is using another server to connect instead of the one I selected.

You have probably selected "Rule" mode and the Netflix website is being redirected to another server based on the Netflix rule set. Select the server you want under "Netflix" in the server list.

# Troubleshooting

## My a**nti-virus prevents the app from installing**

1. Remove all traces of the app from your computer (delete the folder)
2. Re-download the app again from our website
3. Pause the antivirus software (recommended for 1 hour or until reboot)
4. Install the app
5. Create an exception for the app in your anti-virus software

## No internet even after the VPN is disconnected/closed

This is most likely to happen with Clash for Windows, SSR for Windows, and V2rayNG.

The reason for this error is that the traffic capture software that is part of the VPN app is still running and redirecting traffic to your VPN servers, but because the app is closed, it fails.

To solve this, we need to stop the traffic capture software.

### Netch:

1. Reopen the app
2. Click the "Stop" button
3. Now you can quit the app

### V2rayNG:

1. Reopen the app
2. Go to Http Proxy > Not Enabled Http Proxy
3. Now you can quit the app

### Clash for Windows:

1. Reopen the app.
2. Under "General" uncheck "System Proxy"
3. Now you can quit the app

### SSR for Windows:

1. Reopen the app
2. Go to Mode > Disable System Proxy
3. Now you can quit the app

## Some servers are offline

#### If only one or two servers don't work:

It's likely that server has an issue.

* Try a different server (we usually have several alternatives for important locations like the US and Japan)
* [Open a support ticket ](https://wannaflix.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=1)letting us know which server(s) don't work, or [message us on telegram](https://t.me/wannaflixvpn)

#### If MOST of the server don't work, but a few do:

It's likely your current VPN app is unstable in your location (probably it's SSTap)

* Try a different VPN app (We recommend Netch)
* Use our \[CHINA] servers if you are in China

#### If NO servers work:

It's likely either a misconfiguration issue, a local internet issue, or an issue with your account or subscription

**Misconfiguration issue:**

* If you added the servers manually, double check the Port, Password and IP/URL of the server.&#x20;
* This is an especially common for OpenWRT routers. Double check that the IP address of that server hasn't changed (ping the server url again and compare).
  * If the IP address has changed, then update the IP and reconnect

**Local internet issue:**

* Disconnect from the VPN and check if you can access a normal site (like [bing.com](https://bing.com))
* If you can't, then check your wifi connection. Try reconnecting to your wifi, or rebooting your router

**If it's an issue with your account or subscription:**

## SSTap: **All the servers suddenly disappeared**

1. Don't panic. It's likely that the update function failed that one day and the app wasn't able to pull the server list successfully.
2. Click on the cogs icon (settings icon)
3. Go to SSR subscriptions > Manual update SSR subscriptions
4. The servers should be back

Rule - **Recommended.** Choose this option if you are in China. Websites go to different servers based on pre-configured rule sets.&#x20;

Global - All websites go through one Wannaflix server. Can cause Chinese sites to malfunction. Only choose this option if you are **NOT** in China.&#x20;

Direct - **Don't enable**. (Disables the VPN).

NOTE: If you are using the SIMPLE API, Rule mode does split tunneling for Chinese and foreign sites automatically (Chinese sites connect directly, not through the VPN, and overseas sites go through the VPN).

# Troubleshooting

## Phone doesn't allow apps from "Unknown Sources"

This is because you downloaded the app directly from our website instead of using the Google Play store. Do the following to eliminate this error:

1. Navigate to Setting > Security.
2. Check the option "Unknown sources".
3. Tap OK on the prompt message.
4. Select "Trust".

## Configuring V2ray Core

### Download the V2ray Core

&#x20;Go to [the official GitHub Release page of v2fly/v2ray-core](https://github.com/v2fly/v2ray-core/releases) and check the recent stable builds. Choose according to your platform in the asset files.&#x20;

For example, Windows 64-bit users may download `v2ray-windows-64.zip`, Mac OS users may download `v2ray-macos-64.zip`, and for most of the Linux users, `v2ray-linux-64.zip`.

### Place Your V2Ray Core <a href="#place-your-v2ray-core" id="place-your-v2ray-core"></a>

Extract the v2ray core files into a fixed position. As a default, it is suggested to extract the files into `$QV2RAY_CONFIG_PATH/vcore`, where `$QV2RAY_CONFIG_PATH` is the directory where Qv2ray store it’s data.

The directory `vcore` could be in one of these locations:

* `./config/` (`config` subdirectory aside Qv2ray executable, which is recommended for Windows Users)
* `~/.qv2ray/` (in a dedicated directory of your home folder)
* `~/.config/qv2ray/` (standard XDG configuration path)

Afterwards, please make sure that these files exists directly in your `vcore` directory:

1. `v2ray` / `v2ray`: core executable file
2. `v2ctl` / `v2ctl`: core controlling program
3. `geoip.dat`: IP rules database
4. `geosite.dat`: domain rules database

Special Hint for Linux / macOS Users

You should always grant **executable permission** to `v2ray` and `v2ctl`. This is usually done by executing `chmod +x` on these files.

### Configure Qv2ray to Use the Core <a href="#configure-qv2ray-to-use-the-core" id="configure-qv2ray-to-use-the-core"></a>

Open Qv2ray and go to Preference Window. In [**Core Settings**](qv2ray://open/preference/kernel), configure the following options:

* **Core Executable Path**: Set this to where your V2Ray executable exists. This can be the full path of your `v2ray.exe` on Windows, or that `v2ray` executable file on Linux / macOS.
* **V2Ray Assets Directory**: Set this to where `geoip.dat` and `geosite.dat` are located.

After configuring, you can click on **Check V2Ray Core Settings** button to validate your V2Ray core settings. Repeat trying until you get the check passed.

Never ever point **Core Executable Path** to **Qv2ray Executable**! This will not cause a fork bomb since Qv2ray is single-instanced. Do note that V2Ray Core Executable is like `v2ray` or `v2ray.exe`, instead of `qv2ray` or `qv2ray.exe`!

Hint for Arch Linux Users

If you use `v2ray` package, the suggested configuration is as follows:

* **Core Executable Path**: `/usr/bin/v2ray`
* **V2Ray Assets Directory**: `/usr/share/v2ray`

## Add your servers

#### Get the api link

1. Go to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) dashboard
2. Click on the "Windows V2rayN" button in the API box to copy the API for Qv2ray (it's the same format; we will be adding a specific api for Qv2ray soon).

To import an API, follow these steps:

1. Click **Subscriptions** button in the main window.
2. In the [**SubscribeEditor**](qv2ray://open/group/connection) dialog, click the **Add subscription** icon button at the left-bottom corner.
3. Click to select the newly generated item in **Subscription List**.
4. Input your subscription information on the right side.
   * **Subscription Name**: Fill this as you wish.
   * **Subscription Address**: Use your API link mentioned above.
   * **Update Interval**: Change this according to your own demands.
5. Click **Update Subscription Data** button to update the server list and wait until the process finishes.
6. Click **OK** to apply the settings and close the dialog.

Update through System Proxy

If you encounter connectivity problem with your API upstream (eg: DNS Record Pollution, IP Address Blocking, etc.), you may try to run with **Update Subscription with System Proxy** option on. However, it's better to inform the upstream as soon as possible, to fix the issue permanently.

## Configuring Softwares to Use Qv2ray <a href="#step-4-configuring-softwares-to-use-qv2ray" id="step-4-configuring-softwares-to-use-qv2ray"></a>

Congratulations! There's only one step left in order to access the unlocked Internet!

### General Methods <a href="#general-methods" id="general-methods"></a>

#### Using System Proxy <a href="#using-system-proxy" id="using-system-proxy"></a>

For **Windows** and **macOS** users, almost all of the applications will follow the system proxy settings. For **Linux** users, some applications such as Firefox and Chromium, but not all, will read and obey the proxy configurations in GNOME/KDE Settings.

Currently, automatic setting of system proxy is supported by Qv2ray, including **Windows**, **macOS** and **Linux** (GNOME/KDE). You may find System Proxy options of Qv2ray in the following positions:

* **Qv2ray Tray Menu**.
  1. Right click on the tray icon.
  2. In the popup menu, choose **System Proxy** -> **Enable/Disable System Proxy**.
* **Qv2ray Preference Window**.
  1. Click **Preferences** button in the main window.
  2. In **Preference Window**, choose the tab [**Inbound Settings**](qv2ray://open/preference/inbound).
  3. Check the option **Set System Proxy**.
  4. Click **OK** to apply the settings.

Linux Users: KDE/GNOME Proxy Settings

If you are using GNOME as your main desktop environment, you may find it quite useful to set a system proxy. That's because GNOME Proxy Settings is almost universally acknowledged.

However, KDE users may have a difficult time, since KDE Proxy Settings is more like a toy. Even KDE Applications themselves won't read and obey that configuration. In that case, you may seek for an alternative solution to configure your applications.

Windows Users: UWP Loopback Problem

By default, UWP applications are prohibited from using a proxy with a loopback address (127.0.0.1), so the system proxy settings will probably cause your UWP applications cease to work normally.

You can use some third-party tool to **enable UWP loopback** for your program to be proxied. We here present you [this program](https://qv2ray.net/EnableLoopback.zip) from [Fiddler](https://www.telerik.com/fiddler) project.

#### Configure Manually in Applications

**Telegram**

You can configure Telegram to use proxies in the app. Go to **Settings** -> **Advanced** -> **Network and proxy** and click **Connection type**, where **Proxy Settings** dialog will be opened.

In **Proxy Settings**, click **Add Proxy** button on the bottom. Choose SOCKS5/HTTP according to your own flavor and fill in the blanks with the information from Qv2ray Inbound Settings.

Finally, click on the proxy entry that you've just configured. You are done.

**Web Browsers**

Almost all web browsers support manual configuration of proxies. Taking Firefox as example, you can find this settings in **Preferences -> General -> Network -> Manual Proxy Configuration**. Fill these fields with the information from Qv2ray Inbound Settings to use Qv2ray.

Using Proxy Plugins

To avoid switching back and forth among proxy configurations, you may want to use a third-party plugin (eg: SwitchyOmega) to enhance your browser. These plugins can help to implement a more sophisticated configuration, including multiple profiles and further traffic diversion.

**Java Applications**

For Java applications, you may use configure proxies through JVM arguments.

Here are some examples:

* Using SOCKS5:

  ```
  java -DsocksProxyHost=127.0.0.1 -DsocksProxyPort=1088 -jar some-application.jar
  ```
* Using HTTP(S):

  ```
  java -Dhttp.proxyHost=127.0.0.1 -Dhttp.proxyPort=8000 -Dhttps.proxyHost=127.0.0.1 -Dhttps.proxyPort=8000 -jar some-application.jar
  ```

Buggy Minecraft

Newer versions of Minecraft (`>=1.5.2`) won't follow JVM proxy settings. That is not Qv2ray's problem. If you really want to play Minecraft through proxy, consider setting up a Dokodemo-door inbound for that server and connect directly to `localhost`.

### Platform-dependent Methods <a href="#platform-dependent-methods" id="platform-dependent-methods"></a>

#### Using Environment Variables <a href="#using-environment-variables" id="using-environment-variables"></a>

Many CLI programs (for example `curl` and `wget`) will use the proxies given by `<PROTOCOL>_PROXY` environment variable.

Here is a configuration example:

```
# Change the host and port according to Qv2ray inbound configuration
export HTTP_PROXY="http://127.0.0.1:8000"
export HTTPS_PROXY="http://127.0.0.1:8000"
```

If authentication is enabled in Qv2ray, use the following settings:

```
# Change user/pass according to your configuration
export HTTP_PROXY="http://user:pass@127.0.0.1:8000"
export HTTPS_PROXY="http://user:pass@127.0.0.1:8000"
```

Note that if there is a special character in your username or password, you need to encode it. Here's a quick reference:

Or enter the text you want to encode:&#x20;

For programs running in `sudo`, it is required to configure `sudo` to preserve these variables if you do not run `sudo` in a shell. Call `visudo` with root and add the following line:

```
Defaults env_keep += "HTTP_PROXY HTTPS_PROXY"
```

Still, there are some programs who are using their own variables. For example, `rsync` uses `RSYNC_PROXY` for HTTP proxies:

```
export RSYNC_PROXY=user:pass@127.0.0.1:8000
```

It is strongly recommended to read the manual of programs that you want to configure proxy with.

#### Using `proxychains` <a href="#using-proxychains" id="using-proxychains"></a>

If none of the above methods works, you can try using `proxychains`, which hijacks program's function/library to redirect network connections into your proxies.

First, you should install `proxychains-ng`. Installation methods varies with each operating system.

* [Linux/macOS](https://github.com/rofl0r/proxychains-ng)
* [Windows](https://github.com/shunf4/proxychains-windows)

Edit `/etc/proxychains.conf` (for global proxychains) or `$HOME/.proxychains/proxychains.conf` (for user), edit `[ProxyList]` section and change the proxy to SOCKS5 Proxy in Qv2ray:

[ProxyList]
socks5  127.0.0.1  1088
```

After configuring `proxychains`, you may use `proxychains <program>` in terminal to make `proxychains` hijack the program to use the given proxy. If you are fed up with the noisy output, you may append `-q` option after `proxychains`.

One thing to note is that `proxychains` does not work with statically-linked programs, for example, Golang programs.

## Buying Your Router

The Merlin Clash app for Merlin is part of the fancyss app package. It can only be run on a customized version of Merlin, Merlin-Koolshare.

Therefore, you'll need to get a router that can be flashed with Merlin-Koolshare (or that comes with it pre-installed).&#x20;

## Flashing your router

Once you've bought your router, you'll need to flash it with Merlin-Koolshare.

### Preparations

1. Make sure you already have Merlin flashed on your device
2. It is recommended to first update your Merlin firmware to the latest version from your router's manufacturer website or merlin's website before installing KoolShare.

### Download the KoolShare firmware

Find which version of Fancyss your router supports from the router list above.

4. Find your downloaded firmware and click "Upload"

Next, we need to enable JFFS to be able to upload MerlinClash to our router.

1. Go to Administration > System
2. Enable "Enable JFFS partition", "Format JFFS partition at next boot", and "Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs"
3. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the page
4. Reboot your router

First, you need to download the correct version of MerlinClash for your router.&#x20;

You will need a telegram account to access the telegram group where the files are posted.&#x20;

Then find the latest file for your router. You will need to know the CPU type of your router.

# V2ray

## UPDATE \[IMPORTANT]

For users who install FancySS before January 1, 2022:

From **January 1, 2022** onward, v2ray will drop support for the legacy Vmess+MD5 protocol and will not force users to switch to Vmess+AEAD ciphers.&#x20;

The official FancySS repository is over 2 years old, and does not support Vmess+AEAD. Therefore, if you have installed this version before, your router will most likely stop working. If that is the case for you, then you need to update your v2ray app.

To fix this issue, **you’ll need to update your Merlin OS to the latest version** (Merlin Koolshare 380 X7.9.1), **and install the Shadowsocks.tar.gz file from this GitHub repository** (like you did when you first installed V2ray on your router).

## Buying Your Router

The v2ray app for Merlin is part of the fancyss app package. It can only be run on a customized version of Merlin, Merlin-Koolshare.

Therefore, you'll need to get a router that can be flashed with Merlin-Koolshare (or that comes with it pre-installed).&#x20;

## Flashing your router

Once you've bought your router, you'll need to flash it with Merlin-Koolshare.

### Preparations

1. Make sure you already have Merlin flashed on your device
2. It is recommended to first update your Merlin firmware to the latest version from your router's manufacturer website or merlin's website before installing KoolShare.

### Download the KoolShare firmware

Find which version of Fancyss your router supports from the router list above.

1. Login to your Merlin router
2. Go to Administration > Firmware upgrade
3. Click on "Choose file"
4. Find your downloaded firmware (ends in .trx) and click "Upload"

Next, we need to enable JFFS to be able to upload FancySS to our router.

1. Go to Administration > System
2. Enable "Enable JFFS partition", "Format JFFS partition at next boot", and "Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs"
3. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the page
4. Reboot your router

First, you need to download the correct version of FancySS for your router.&#x20;

Go to the corresponding page below and download the latest version of the shadowsocks.tar.gz file.&#x20;

The file will have a version number. You'll need to **rename** it to just **shadowsocks.tar.gz**

## Initial setup

If it is your first time setting up OpenClash, please do the following:

Login to your OpenWRT router and go to the OpenClash app. Click "Global Settings/全局设置" → "基本设置", then select your CPU architecture from the "Select Kernel Compilation Version/选择内核编译版本" drop-down list, and click "Save Configuration/保存配置".

&#x20;Click the "Version Update/版本更新" tab, and click the "Check and Update/检查并更新" button to download the latest Clash kernel.

## Add your API link

1. Login to your client area dashboard
2. Go to Setup for Router > OpenWRT OpenClash
3. Click "Copy the API"
4. Login to your router and open your OpenClash app

6\. Click "Add/添加" and paste the API link into the URL bar (Api type: Clash)

## Connect

After the subscription download is complete, OpenClash will automatically run in the background and automatically switch to the "Running Status" tab.

## Register your IP address and choose your prefered Netflix region

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on your active SmartDNS subscription
3. Select your prefered Netflix region and click "Update"

You will have to re-submit your IP address each time it changes (router reboots, new location, etc.)

## Setting up the DNS on you router

1. Connect to the router via your browser. Common addresses are [http://10.0.1.1](http://10.0.1.1/), [http://192.168.0.1](http://192.168.0.1/), [http://192.168.1.1](http://192.168.1.1/),  [http://192.168.2](http://192.168.2.1/) [.1](http://192.168.2.1/), <http://192.168.50.1>, <http://192.168.8.1>
2. Log in to the router. Common user names are: *admin*, *root*, *default* and common passwords are *admin*,*1234*, *default*, *password* (you can usually find the username and password on the router)
3. Find network settings and change the DNS to  **165.227.243.239** and **165.227.254.128** (if there is only 1 slot, just enter the first one)
4. Apply the changes by saving settings.
5. Restart devices connected to the router.

If you are unable to configure your router then simply configure your device instead. The result is the same.

# Block Public DNS

Various devices such as Roku, Chromecast and PS3/PS4 use public DNS servers in preference to the DNS servers configured on the device (or your router). Sometimes the entire device uses the public DNS servers (e.g. Chromecast) and sometimes it's only the individual apps (e.g. Netflix and Dishworld on PS3 or Roku).

Also Netflix App on all devices are using public DNS + it's own DNS.

This breaks SmartDNS services like Wannaflix since other DNS servers end up serving the DNS requests instead of ours. In order to fix this, you will need to take steps to block access to these 3rd party DNS servers on your router. If these devices can't use the public DNS servers, they fallback to using the DNS servers configured on your device or router (e.g. our DNS servers).

### Unsupported Routers

Some routers supplied by ISPs have the advanced settings removed that are required to make these changes. This is a list of known devices:

* Optus Netgear Wireless Cable Voice Gateway CG3000
* Telstra Netgear Wireless Cable Gateway CG3100
* Optus Cisco DPQ 3925-X
* Telstra Cisco EPC 3925

Some other routers simply do no have the option to configure static routes. Here is a list of known devices:

* Apple AirPort Devices
* Most Belkin Routers
* Some Thompson Models

### Generic Instructions

Look for a section on your router to add static routes, there should be room for a network address, subnet mask and gateway. You need to setup the static routes like this:

Network Address: 8.8.8.8\
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router - this is the IP that's in the browser URL)

Network Address: 8.8.4.4\
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

**For NETFLIX you also need to add following static routes:**

IP: 108.175.32.0\
Subnet: 255.255.240.0 (or /20)\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

IP: 198.45.48.0\
Subnet: 255.255.240.0 (or /20)\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

IP: 185.2.220.0\
Subnet: 255.255.252.0 (or /22)\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

IP: 37.77.184.0\
Subnet: 255.255.248.0 (or /21)\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

IP: 45.57.0.0\
Subnet: 255.255.128.0 (or /17)\
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)

**Notes:**

* The "gateway" should be the internal IP address of your router, it will usually start with "192.168." or "10." - make sure you use the internal address, not the public or external address.
* If there is room for a "metric", use the number 2.
* If there is room for an "interface", select either "LAN" or "BRIDGE".

What this does is force your router to route requests to public DNS servers to itself, which will never get routed, so they will never work, and your device will fall back to using the DNS servers you have configured.

Some of our users also suggested the use following static routes. But these may also cause issues on some other user networks. So please use the first set of static routes first and then if needed you can try followings:\

2. Download the "Eclipse" config files and save them in C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config

### 3. Get your username and password

1. Go to this page.&#x20;
2. Note your username and password. You'll need it in the next step

### 4. Connect

#### Start the app.

Run the openvpn app (you can do a search in the search bar for 'openvpn').

Go to the tray. It's at the bottom right corner of your screen; there should be lots of small icons there.&#x20;

Right click on the OpenVPN icon (if you can't see it, click on the small up arrow to reveal more icons).

Select a server, and click "Connect".

### STEP 1: Download and install V2rayN

### STEP 2: Add the servers

#### Get the api link

3. Click on the "Copy API" button to copy the API

### The app is in Chinese! How to switch the language to English?

1. Tap the 3 dots icon, and change the last drop-down to "en"

### Some apps don't work with V2rayN

In this case, try using TUN mode. Switch it on at the bottom of the app.&#x20;

TUN will need to be installed the first time you run it. If there is a popup, allow the installation.

### Window Store apps don't work!

Windows sometimes disregards the VPN for its own app store. You need to set up the UWP helper tool to make it work.

In the new window, select the apps you want to force Windows to run through the VPN. You can click "Exempt all" to force all Windows apps to go through WannaFlix. Don't forget to "Save Changes" too.

# SmartDNS

4. Open the SSTap app on your PC
5. See the cogs icon? Click on it, and go to SSR subscriptions > SSR Subscriptions Management. (See attachment)

6\. Paste the subscribe link you copied into the URL bar and click Add. Then close the SSR Subscriptions Management box.

6. Close the program window&#x20;
7. Disable the VPN as no servers have been added yet (IMPORTANT). In the bottom right of your screen (also called the tray), you’ll see a paper airplane icon. If you can’t find it, click on the up arrow to show more icons. Right-click the paper airplane icon to show the menu (don’t left-click; it will open the server configurations page). Go to Mode -> Disable system proxy

# Proxifier 4.05

What is proxifier:&#x20;

Proxifier captures all TCP traffic from your computer and forces it through the local v2ray/SSR app.&#x20;

The Portable Edition only captures traffic from apps with a graphical user interface, but the Standard Edition captures traffic from all sources.&#x20;

Why is it useful?

In conjuction with the v2rayN, v2rayU, or Netch under Proxy mode (TUN/TAP mode will conflict with Proxifier), you can get all apps to work through WannaFlix.

## Installation:

Go to the Proxifier website and download the latest version for your Windows or Mac computer.

### No internet

Check that the port is correct and that the v2ray app is running in the background. Make sure the v2ray app is NOT turned on (except in the case of Netch).

Once installed, you can find it on your desktop, or by doing a search for "Clash" in the windows search bar.

Double-click to start the app.

## STEP 2: Add the servers

### Copy the API

1. Login to your dashboard
2. Select "Clash for Windows" in the dropdown for Windows
3. Click "Copy API"

### Paste the API&#x20;

1. Open Clash by double-clicking on the app icon in the tray on the bottom right corner of your screen (blue cat icon)
2. Go to "Profile" (left-hand menu)
3. Paste the API in the "Download from a URL" box and click "Download"

Your server list has now been downloaded to the app.

Make sure you select the newly downloaded server config file, and not the default.

We **HIGHLY** recommend to set the API to auto-update the server list at least once a day (preferably every 12 hours).&#x20;

To do so, right click on the profile you just added, and go to settings. Under "Update Interval (hours)" type "12", then click OK.

## STEP 3: Select a server

### OPTION 1: Simple Setup - all websites through 1 server

**If you are unfamiliar with Clash, we recommend this setup.**

1. Go to "Proxies" (left-hand menu)
2. Select Global mode from the top (see image below)
3. Select a server from the list

### OPTION 2: Split-tunneling Setup - decide which server each site will go through

1. Go to "Proxies" (left-hand menu)
2. Select Rule mode from the top (see box below)
3. Select a server from the list under "WannaFlix". This will be your main server.
4. You can also select a different server for services like Netflix and Youtube.&#x20;

Global - All websites go through one WannaFlix server

Rule - Websites go to different servers based on pre-configured rule sets.

## STEP 4: Connect

1. Go to the "General" tab
2. Toggle the "System Proxy" switch

You are now connected.

To disconnect: Toggle the "System Proxy" switch again

Make sure to **turn the "System Proxy" switch OFF before quiting the app** or you won't have any internet if you do so (i.e. it doubles as a kill-switch).

To fix it, restart the app and turn the "System Proxy" switch OFF and then quit the app.

### Install the TUN engine

If you want to play games with Clash or have all apps go through Clash, you need to install the TUN engine.

1. Go to the "General" tab
2. Click "Manage" next to "Service Mode"
3. Click "Install"
4. If you get any popups, click YES.

If it is correctly installed, the globe will turn green.&#x20;

Now disable System Proxy, and enable TUN mode.&#x20;

### Windows Store apps

Windows Store apps do not go through the VPN by default, even when TUN/TAP is enabled. You need to force them by using the UWP Loopback Helper.

1. Go to the "General" tab
2. Click "Launch Helper" next to "UWP Loopback"
3. If there's a popup click "YES"
4. Select all the apps you want to force through the VPN
5. Click "Save Changes"

### Enable Start with Windows

If you want Clash to automatically start when you boot your computer, you need to enable this option.

1. Go to the "General" tab
2. Toggle the "Start with Windows" switch

### Kill all connections when changing server

By default, old connections will not be redirected to the new server but will continue going to the old server until they timeout.

This creates problems when you're switching servers to watch Netflix or if you need a specific IP address as the websites you've just visited will still be going through the old server.

To kill all connections (and therefore forcibly reconnect via the new server), do this:

1. Go to "Settings"
2. Scroll down to "Connections"
3. Select "All" next to "Break when proxy change"
4. Also toggle "Break when Profile change" and "Break when Mode change"

## Troubleshooting

To be done. Please submit any issues to the team. Common issues and how to fix them will be added here.

### How can I update the server list?

Go to profiles, and click on the refresh icon next to the profile you want to update.

### How can I play games with Clash for Windows?

You need to install the TUN Device (see [above](/installation-guides/windows/clash-for-windows-new#install-the-tap-engine)), and connect to a server that supports UDP.

### Spotify/OneDrive/Other app doesn't work

Windows Store apps don't go through Clash by default. You need to force them to go through by using the UWP Loopback Helper (see [above](/installation-guides/windows/clash-for-windows-new#windows-store-apps)).

If it still doesn't work, make sure you've installed the TUN interface (see above).

### Netflix/other website is using another server to connect instead of the one I selected.

You have probably selected "Rule" mode and the Netflix website is being redirected to another server based on the Netflix rule set. Select the server you want under "Netflix" in the server list.

Netch supports both v2ray AND ShadowsocksR. It also supports the TUN/TAP engine for capturing packets. This means it can run games without needing additional software.

## Additional Tips

### Modes

**Global (System Proxy) -** Proxies all apps that use the system proxy settings (like web browsers). Some apps need to be configured to use the system proxy.

**Global (TUN/TAP) -** Proxies all websites and apps through WannaFlix. Good for games, VoIP, and Video Conference, as well as web-browsing, Netflix, Youtube, etc.

**Global (Non System Proxy) -** Starts a SOCKS5 and HTTP server on 2 ports but does not enable the system proxy settings. Only apps that you specifically tell to use the proxy will use WannaFlix's servers.

**Bypass LAN and China (System Proxy) -** Proxies all apps that use the system proxy settings (like web browsers), EXCEPT CHINESE WEBSITES AND APPS. Good for those who want to connect to Wechat, Taobao, and other Chinese websites and apps directly.

**Bypass LAN and China (TUN/TAP) -** Proxies all websites and apps through WannaFlix, EXCEPT CHINESE WEBSITES AND APPS. Good for those who want to connect to Wechat, Taobao, and other Chinese websites and apps directly.

**Bypass LAN and China (Non System Proxy) -** Starts a SOCKS5 and HTTP server on 2 ports but does not enable the system proxy settings. Only apps that you specifically tell to use the proxy AND THAT ARE NOT CHINESE WEBSITES AND APPS will use WannaFlix's servers.

**Other Modes -** You will find that all the other modes are mainly for gaming. These modes only proxy the selected game via WannaFlix's servers and leave the rest unchanged. These modes are only present on the Github version of Netch. We've removed it for ease of use and not to confuse anyone.

If you want to play games or use video-conferencing, please use the Global (TUN/TAP) mode instead.

## Troubleshooting

### Cannot find Privoxy

This means your antivirus has quarantined/blocked part of the app. Open your antivirus software, navigate to the quarantine/virus chest tab, and restore the privoxy.exe program to it's location.&#x20;

You may want to add an exception to the folder as well so the antivirus doesn't block it again in the future.

You can also re-download the app from our website to restore the entire program. This will require adding the API link back in.

### Problem connecting after upgrading Netch app

Open Netch. Click Options > Remove Netch Firewall Rules.

Also try: Modes > Reload Modes.

### Servers don't connect

If you're using the TUN/TAP mode, try disconnecting and reconnecting. If it still fails, try switching to the System Proxy mode instead.

Make sure you are using the correct API link (APIs differ between Netch versions)

If the issue still persists, check your computer time. For v2ray servers, you computer time must be within 90 seconds of the correct time. If it's not, either sync your time with the internet, or adjust it to the correct time in the computer's settings.

### Mode list doesn't show

You are likely running an old version of Windows or lack some dependencies. If you can't see any modes, we recommend switching to [v2rayN ](/installation-guides/windows/v2rayn-recommended)instead, as troubleshooting which dependencies are lacking will likely be quite complicated.

### Does not work on Windows 7

Netch needs various dependencies that are native on Windows 10, but which are lacking on Windows 7. We recommend switching to [SSR ](/installation-guides/windows/ssr)on Windows 7.

If you still want to try using Netch on Windows 7, you can install the update package from Microsoft:

### Failed to start Netch/Stuck on connecting

You may need to install lacking dependencies:

### NAT test failed when using TUN/TAP mode

First, try another server location.

If it keeps failing, you may need to change your STUN server in your Netch settings.&#x20;

If it is the first time using ClashX, a pop up will appear saying that the app is from an unknown developer. You need to allow this app to open.

The first time ClashX runs, you will be prompted to install a plugin. This plugin is used to set up the system proxy, otherwise you will need to enter your administrator password each time you connect to the VPN. Click "Install" and macOS will prompt for the user password.

## STEP 2: Add the servers

### Get the api link

1. Go to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) dashboard
2. Click on the dropdown menu under "Setup for Mac OS" and select ClashX for MacOS
3. Copy the API you want to use. If it is your first time, we recommend copying the "Basic API". If you want to use the split tunneling feature of Clash, copy the "Advanced API".&#x20;

Simple API - tunnel all websites through the same server. **Should satisfy most users.**&#x20;

Split-tunneling API - option to choose different servers for different services (like Netflix, Disney+, etc.)

Subconverter API - only use this API if you know how to configure the subscription converter. **Only for niche users.**

### Paste the API

1. After running ClashX, click the Clash icon (a kitten) on the menu bar, and then click Config > Remote Config > Manage in the menu.

2\. A new window will open. Click "Add", paste your Clash API link and click OK.

If you get an error that says the app can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer, follow these steps.

1. Hold down the **Control key** on your keyboard while you click the application icon and then choose **Open** while still holding down the Control key.
2. Choose **Open**

After you open the app, you will see an icon near the top of the screen that looks like a small paper airplane.

## Add the Servers

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on the "Copy Link" button to copy your link to the clipboard
3. After you open the app, you will see an icon near the top of the screen that looks like a small paper airplane.
4. Click on the airplane icon and go to server ---> Edit subscribe feed

## Step 1: Download and Install ClashX

If it is the first time using ClashX, a pop up will appear saying that the app is from an unknown developer. You  need to allow this app to open.

The first time ClashX runs, you will be prompted to install a plugin. This plugin is used to set up the system proxy, otherwise you will need to enter your administrator password each time you connect to the VPN. Click "Install" and macOS will prompt for the user password.

## Copy Your API Link

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on "Manage your VPN Subscription" under 'Your Subscription'
3. Under the box "Your Subscribe Links", click on the "Clash API Link" button to copy your link to the clipboard

## Configuring ClashX

After running ClashX, click the Clash icon (a kitten) on the menu bar, and then click “Config – Remote Config – Set Url” in the menu.

A new window will open. Paste your Clash API link and click OK.

If you have pasted the correct link and the network is properly connected to the Wannaflix API, you should see a success message.

## Troubleshooting

#### http error - listen tcp 127.0.0.1:1087: bind: address already in use

This is because the port 1087 is already taken by another program on your Mac. You need to go to V2rayU's settings and change the default port it uses to another one.

1. Go to Preferences > Advanced
2. Change the Local Http Listen Port to something else (for example, 1080)
3. Click "save settings"

### The app suddenly stopped working. I can't connect to any servers.

### 3. Download the VPN config files and add them in&#x20;

**Go to** [**this page**](https://wannaflix.com/eclipse.php)**.**

You will see your VPN username and password at the top, followed by the list of config files.

**Download the "Eclipse" config files.**

Then double-click on the .ovpn files you downloaded to open them. They should open with Tunnelblick.

# SmartDNS

Using the VPN will automatically disable your local SmartDNS settings. Please choose either the one or the other.

## Register your IP address and choose your prefered Netflix region

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on your active SmartDNS subscription
3. Select your prefered Netflix region and click "Update"

You will have to re-submit your IP address each time it changes (router reboots, new location, etc.)

## Change your local DNS settings

1\. Open up System Preferences and find Network&#x20;

# Qv2ray (DEPRECATED)

We do not officially support Qv2ray. This app doesn't not always install successfully and may have permissions issues on some Macs. Should a permission issue occur, we do not have a fix at this time.&#x20;

However, you are welcome to try. It may well work for you. We just don't want to make any promises.

Qv2ray is the only app that supports the latest v2ray protocol on Mac (other than Shadowrocket for M1 Macs).

It is a little complicated to setup as you need to download the graphical user interface separately from the core app.&#x20;

We have tried to make this guide as simple and straightforward as possible so you can get it up and running easily.

So here goes!

## Download and Install

Install the app.

Now we need to install Xray-core:

Open terminal and run the following commands.

Step 1: Add tap

```
brew tap N4FA/xray
```

Step 2: Install Xray-core

```
brew install xray-core
```

Qv2ray does NOT contain the necessary files to run v2ray. You **MUST** install Xray-core for it to work.

If you don't have homebrew installed or get the error "command not found", you need to install homebrew:

If you encounter a permission issue while installing brew, paste the following into your terminal:

sudo chgrp -R admin $(brew --prefix)/&#x20;

sudo chmod -R g+w $(brew --prefix)/

Now run the Qv2ray GUI you downloaded before.

Go to Qv2ray > Preferences > Kernel Settings:

Replace the v2ray executable path to: /usr/local/Cellar/xray-core/{XRAY VERSION}/bin/xray

Replace the old v2ray assets path to: /usr/local/Cellar/xray-core/{XRAY VERSION}/share/xray-core

**IMPORTANT**: the {XRAY VERSION} part **MUST** be replaced with the current Xray-core version that you downloaded.&#x20;

The current version at the time this was written is 1.4.0 but  it will likely be higher by the time you install it on your Mac.

To find out your version, open your file explorer and navigate to this folder: /usr/local/Cellar/xray-core

You'll find the version in the name of the folder there.

## Add your servers

### Get the API link

1. Go to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) dashboard
2. Under the Mac OS > Qv2ray, click "COPY API" to copy the API

### Paste the API

1. Open your Qv2ray app
2. Go to Qv2ray > Groups > Subscription Settings
3. Paste the API into "Subscription Address" and click "Update subscription"
4. Click OK

## Connect

Double-click on a server to connect.

Or, select a server and click on the "Play" button to the right to connect.

OneClick is the recommended app for M-series Macs. It is easy to setup. If you have an Intel Mac, please use [ClashX](/mac-os/clashx-meta) instead. ClashX is just as stable and performant, but takes a little more time to set up.

# WannaFlix Official App (Recommended)

## Download the app

If your phone or tablet prevents the installation due to it being from an "unknown source". That's completely normal behavior from your phone as our app is not directly downloaded from the Play store.&#x20;

To use our app, you'll need to enable the "unknown sources" setting on your phone. Depending on your phone in can be in several places in your settings. A quick google or bing search should do the trick.&#x20;

Usually, it's under your security settings:

1. Navigate to Setting > Security.
2. Check the option “Unknown sources“.
3. Tap OK on the prompt message.
4. Select “Trust“.

## Copy-paste the api link

1. Login to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) and click the red 'copy link' button to copy the link.&#x20;
2. Open the newly installed Wannaflix app. An input box should appear on the first startup. Paste the link in and click on "Add/Update servers" to download the most recent server list.

## Add Your Servers

### Copy your Subscribe Link

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on "Manage your VPN Subscription" under 'Your Subscription'
3. Under the box "Your Subscribe Links", click on the "Subscribe Link" button to copy your link to the clipboard

If your browser does not support copying the link directly to the keyboard, click the links underneath the main buttons to show the link in text form. Select the link and copy

### Paste the Link in the app

1. Open the app and click on "ShadowsocksR" on the top bar and then click on the "+" button on the botton right.
2. Click on "Add/Update SSR Subscription". Delete the default subscription by swiping it all the way to the right and then selecting the "delete the nodes too" option.
3. Click on "Add URL" and paste the subscribe link you copied. Click OK.
4. Switch "Auto Update" on. Finally, click on "Save and Update".

## Connect

1. Choose the server you want to connect to
2. Scroll down and enable "UDP Forwarding"
3. Click on the paper-airplane icon on the top bar to connect to the server. Allow any popup that may appear.

### Download the configs&#x20;

Download the .ovpn files from your client area to your device. You can also transfer the files from your computer via a USB cable:

2. Download the "Eclipse" config files

### Get your username and password

1. Go to [this page](https://wannaflix.com/eclipse.php).
2. Note your username and password. You'll need it in the next step.

### &#x20;Import the ovpn configs

1. Open the OpenVPN for Android app
2. Tap on the + icon.

2\. Click on the box with a down arrow button (top left of the screen, middle button) to go to your downloads folder

7\. Once successfully connected you should see a lock icon in the notification area at the top. If you pull down your notification bar you should see the 'OpenVPN for Android' app listed showing that you are connected. Repeat steps 1-3 if you need to create any additional VPN server connections.


# SmartDNS

Using the VPN will automatically disable your local SmartDNS settings. Please choose either the one or the other.

## Register your IP address and choose your prefered Netflix region

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on your active SmartDNS subscription
3. Select your prefered Netflix region and click "Update"

1\. Find Settings.

2\. Select Wi-Fi settings.

3\. Tap and hold the network you want to connect to until a box appears.

4\. Select Modify Network.

5\. Tap the checkbox next to Show Advanced Options.

6\. Manually enter your IP address, Gateway, Subnet/Network Prefix Length, using the same values you see in gray. Otherwise, you will not be able to save your settings.

7\. Input the Unlocator DNS servers: **165.227.243.239** & Secondary Server **165.227.254.128**

8\. Tap Save.

9\. Restart your device

### **Changing DNS on Android 4.x**

1\. Find *Settings*

2\. Choose *Wi-Fi* by actually pressing Wi-F

3\. Press and hold your network and a window will open up

4\. Choose *Modify Network*

5\. Check the *Show advanced options* checkbox at the bottom of the screen

6\. Set *IP settings* to *Static*

7\. Simply keep your IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same

8\. Input the Unlocator DNS servers: **165.227.243.239** & Secondary Server **165.227.254.128**

9\. Press *Save*

10\. Restart your device

### **Changing DNS on Android 2.x**

1\. Find *Settings*

2\. Select *Wireless and Networks*

3\. Then choose *Wi-Fi Settings*

4\. In the *Menu* go to *Advanced*

5\. Select *Use static IP*

6\. Copy or write down your current IP address, which you can see directly above the IP address field

7\. Set your *Gateway* to the IP of your router. Normally the router address is the same of your current IP but with a 1 at the end. As an example if your IP is 10.0.1.3 then your router is 10.0.1.1

8\. Set the *Netmask* to 255.255.255.0

9\. Input the Unlocator DNS servers: **165.227.243.239** & Secondary Server **165.227.254.128**

10\. Go to *Menu* > *Save*

11\. Restart your device

## Download the app

The Shadowrocket app has been taken down from the Chinese app store. Use our US iTunes account to download it.

### **Connect**

1. Select a server from the server list and toggle the switch on the top-right.
2. If it is the first time setting up the app, it will ask you to allow the creation of a VPN profile. Click allow and enter your pin/touch ID/face ID.
3. Otherwise, you will be connected.

## Updating the App

To update the app, simply log back in to our iTunes account and update it.&#x20;

We recommend updating it once ever 6 months. If there is a major update that needs to be done earlier, we'll send you an email.

#### WhatsApp calls don't work

If it’s the first time you’re adding a configuration file, the OpenVPN Connect app will ask you whether you wish to import the file. Please tap on “Add”.&#x20;

You can download multiple configuration files and copy them to the OpenVPN Connect app the same way as described above. After that, you can easily switch between multiple servers.


# SmartDNS

Using the VPN will automatically disable your local SmartDNS settings. Please choose either the one or the other.

## Register your IP address and choose your prefered Netflix region

1. Login to your client area (<https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php>)
2. Click on your active SmartDNS subscription
3. Select your prefered Netflix region and click "Update"

You will have to re-submit your IP address each time it changes (router reboots, new location, etc.)

## Setting up the DNS on iOS 11+

1. Open Settings
2. Click on Wifi
3. Click on the network you're currently connected to
4. Select 'Configure DNS'
5. Select 'Manual'
6. Remove any DNS servers that may exist
7. Click on Add server and enter 165.227.243.239
8. Repeat the previous step but this time enter 165.227.254.128

## Setting up the DNS on iOS 7-10

1\. First open *Settings*\
2\. Select *Wi-Fi* \

3\. Press the blue arrow located on the right of the router you are connected to. \

4\. Under DNS input 165.227.243.239, 165.227.254.128\
5\. Press *Wi-Fi* to go back\
6\. Restart your iPhone

However, as some users prefer Quantumult, we've written a tutorial on how to use WannaFlix with it.

## Install the App

The Quantumult app has been taken down from the Chinese app store. Use our iTunes account to download it:

Search for "quantumult" and download it.

IMPORTANT: make sure you remember your own iTunes account username and password so you can log back into your account after downloading the app.

## Add the servers

### Get the api link

1. Go to your [client area](https://wannaflix.com/clientarea.php) dashboard
2. Under the "Your API Links" box, click on the iOS Quantumult button to copy the API link

The API link should start with <https://api.wannaflix.com/apiv2.php?type=**quantumult>\*\*

### Paste the api link into the app

1. Open the Quantumult app.
2. Go to Settings > Favorites
3. Click "+" on the top right corner, and select "Server" from the popup
4. Paste the API link in the URL box and click save

To update the server list manually, pull the newly added api link to the **left** and click 'update'
{% endhint %}

### **Connect**

1. Click on the round button in the cerner bottom to see the server list and select a server
2. On the app home screen, toggle the switch on the top right to connect
3. If it is the first time setting up the app, it will ask you to allow the creation of a VPN profile. Click allow and enter your pin/touch ID/face ID.
4. Otherwise, you will be connected.
